 This year, Rotary's AGM was held in less formal surroundings at the home of Terry and Tessa.

Phil Head was confirmed as President elect for the year commencing July 2012

Rotary was delighted to welcome special guest Amelia Evison, who is receiving Rotary's support for her upcoming trip.

A round of golf, followed by the Cup Sweep and a few glasses of wine . . . a perfect day out, especially if you backed the winner!

Welcome Visitors from Morwell Rotary Club

In September, Mirboo North Rotary Club hosted a group of fellow Rotarians from Morwell RC at the Brewery. As well as an evening of fellowship, Tom Shanahan (centre) briefed the meeting on the role of RAM (Rotarians Against Malaria), and accepted a small donation towards the purchase of mosquito nets for Papuya New Guinea families.

Around 70 members and guests (including some founding members) attended a special changeover ceremony at MN Golf Club, that marked the 50th anniversary of MN Rotary Club Inc. - the 11,000th Rotary Club!

    Annual Trivia Night

 Another excellent turnout for our annual fundraiser at Mirboo North Hall. Trivia Night raised around $1,500 for local school programs.

 As a new fundraising initiative, MN Rotary manned the BBQ stand at Morwell Bunnings in late May.

 Fantastic Community Effort

Ellen Martin hands on a cheque for $2,500 from the Friends of Mirboo North Aged & Community Services, which goes towards the current extension of Rotary Centenary House at Latrobe Regional Hospital . . . a terrific fundraising effort.

 A Welcome Guest

 April 2011 - Faye Buchanan called in to tell us about her fundraising efforts on behalf of Possible Dreams International. PDI has been supporting poverty stricken villages in Swaziland, providing food and education to 130 children per day.

 

Faye is a PDI volunteer, and she is off to Swaziland for several months, paying for her own travel, accommodation and food costs.

Rotary is supporting Faye's fund raising efforts for the $6000 she needs to pay for her trip.

Ffunds raised in a joint effort with Mirboo North Lions pay the registration fees for a large group of Mirboo North students into the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, allowing them to take part in the local "Community Breakout Program". Rotary Treasurer, Richard Arnold presented a cheque for the first instalment of funding to MNSC teachers Alice O'Mara and Andrew McGrath.

Rotary Disaster Appeal

Mirboo North Rotary has already forwarded $500 to the Haiti disaster relief, from funds raised within the Mirboo North community. This week Rotary was delighted to accept a donation for the fund from local Rotarian, Associate Professor Ysanne Chapman, pictured with Rotary President Sashi Nair. The donation was raised by graduates from the 2008 Nursing and Midwifery School at Monash Churchill . . . a terrific community effort!

Mirboo North Rotary helped with the special day out for local senior citizens at the Music For The People Concert. The concert featured the Victorian Concert Orchestra and local artists.
