Ambulance

After more than a year based on Baromi rd the Mirboo North's new twenty four hour Ambulance Station is now operational. Last Wednesday our local officers Don and Warren moved into their new home.

The Station will operate with staff back up by community drivers during day light hours. The community drivers are then on call over night. Currently there are 6 community drivers. This number will increase in the near future with four new community drivers currently being trained.

The new Ambulance station has a large enclosed garage for two Ambulances. The recently damage ambulance will be returning soon to take up the second park. The garage has been specifically built to power any configuration of power sources needed in an emergency.

The new station has state of the art computer systems, wiring and plumbing to make the building eco friendly. This includes sensor lighting that pick up sound and movement. The Ambulance Auxiliary has funded the wiring of the station into the CFA back generator.

Upstairs there a greater space which maybe used as living space with a spacious lounge. The state of the art fold down bed was produced and imported from Canada. Stepping outside on to the balcony there are not many other places in which you can work well over looking the rolling hills of South Gippsland.

The community has been very supported to the staff, drivers and the Ambulance Auxiliary over the last 25 years. Your support has allowed extra facilities to be added to the building. Along with the wiring the Auxiliary provided monies for a water tank and a vacuum ducted system for the building.

Don't mistake your donation to the Auxiliary with Ambulance insurance. If you need an Ambulance the costs is great. Ambulance insurance will help cover your costs. There is still time for you to donate to the Ambulance Auxiliary's October appeal. All monies raise by the Auxiliary are used to provide the community with additional services.

The building has been designed to grow with the community. The features and technology of our new station will be reflected in the upcoming Grantville, Neerim Sth and Hayfield stations. The official opening of the building will be at a later date, after the state election.
